My career in bodywork began with a decade-long practice after studying at the School of Healing Arts in San Diego, California. I specialized in therapeutic and sports massage and worked independently, traveling to client's homes. The pregnancy of my twin girls, their very pre-term birth and a couple of cross-country moves (for my husbands work) ended my lovely little practice. Blessedly, however, those things also brought me my personal introduction to infant massage. Massage was incorporated as an early intervention therapy to settle a touch sensory disorder and developmental delays in one of my little beauties. The massage work not only helped her ability to cope with touch and other external stimulation, but empowered me to actively affect her well being. In turn, the work helped to build my confidence to being able to meet her needs. Being part of the solution eased much of my own parental anxiety. The regular act of doing massage became a calming ritual and special time with each of my girls, that my husband and I still practice with them today. My entire career in Infant Massage is built on the desire to share with other caregivers the gifts I have been given.
