I have been blessed to teach infant massage for some time now, visiting new parents in their homes or joining small groups of moms who enjoy meeting regularly. I love seeing a little one's face at the second or third session, she's no longer skeptical of who I am and greets me with great attention. She happily knows what's coming. Mom or Dad begins a new massage stroke and she is done interacting with me, her eyes lock with theirs, brightly. Her expression glows and you can feel the loving energy they are sharing at the moment. I know little one's senses are getting all the attention they could want at that moment and that empowered attention is helping her to thrive. I love my job.
There are many, unfortunately, who have no understanding of infant massage- the immense power of touch and intention- so the idea of taking time to learn the whole series simply isn't on their radar. I developed my Introduction to Infant Massage class for those very parents, making it easy to know more and get started. The class will teach a handful of massage strokes from the full series sessions. As well, we'll explore current scientific understandings of infant brain development, the role of attentive, purposeful touch for the thriving child and baby's communicating body language. You'll leave the intro class with the basic tools to encourage stress release and calm for your baby while enhancing your bond together.
Visit Infant Massage Charlotte.com for the current dates. More dates, times, and locations are coming soon. The $25 class fee can be used towards the cost of a full series when you are ready to go further.
